The Quebec Capitales will retire the number 18 of former outfielder Sébastien Boucher.

The Frontier League club made the announcement in a press release on Thursday.

The ceremony will take place on August 18. His number will join those of Eddie Lantigua (31) and Karl Gélinas (34) in the heights of Stade Canac.

“For six years, Sébastien Boucher proudly wore the label of the complete player. He could win his team with a solid hit, a stolen base, a spectacular catch in the outfield or a precise relay on the paths. [Il fut] one of the main architects of five championships in a row, from 2009 to 2013,” indicated the Capitals organization in its missive.

Boucher is still the holder of the best batting average (.319) among the “Caps” players who total more than 1000 official appearances at the plate.

“I am filled with pride and moved by this gesture,” said Boucher. My years in Quebec were special. It’s unusual to win five consecutive championships and this honor is the icing on the cake of my career with the Capitals. I can’t wait to be at the stadium on August 18.”
