PUCPR Pioneers Dominate Judo Championship at Interuniversity Athletic League Sports Festival

The Pioneers of the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico (PUCPR) repeated the championship, while the Taínas of the Ana G. The tatami was located in the Rafael Mangual Coliseum of the University of Puerto Rico (UPR) in Mayagüez.

“We feel extremely happy and satisfied with the results of this second semester. First, the long-awaited ‘back to back’ was achieved in men’s judo, where we won five gold medals and two silver medals in the men’s branch and one bronze in the women’s branch. We also managed to repeat the bronze medal in women’s basketball and men’s beach volleyball. This celebration is joined by the fourth places in softball and women’s soccer. “We are experiencing a lot of joy,” said PUCPR athletic director Alexis Feliciano.

“I feel super happy with the work done by the women’s judo team. In conversation with coach Luis Martínez he always told me that he won the championship in the women’s division and in the men’s division we had some declines in academic achievement, but we continue working for next year. We understand that next year we will have a better and more complete team.
