In mid-April, Jinan City’s 2024 Junior High School Physical Education and Health Subject Academic Proficiency Examination (hereinafter referred to as the “Physical Education Examination”) will be held soon. This year is the first centralized and unified test after the adjustment of the physical education examination policy. The scores, items, and methods of the examination have been adjusted accordingly. The options are more flexible and students have more choices.
It is understood that Jinan divides the physical education examination into process evaluation and unified test evaluation. Process evaluation focuses on the assessment and scoring of students’ physical education and health course attendance, classroom performance, and participation in school sports meets, sports festivals, sports interest groups, societies, clubs, etc. The unified test evaluation part consists of physical health test and sports skill test. The required items for the physical fitness test are 1000-meter run (men)/800-meter run (women), and the optional items are pull-ups (men)/1-minute sit-ups (women), standing long jump, and 50-meter run. Students choose two of them to take the test. There are four optional sports skills tests, namely football, basketball, volleyball, and swimming. Students can choose one for the test.
Xu Chunyan, vice principal of Jinan No. 12 Middle School, said that the school has actively adjusted the campus physical education curriculum system, including three physical education classes a week, inclusive large-scale classes, characteristically developed sports clubs, and professionally trained school team training, with four levels of progression. , gradually cultivate students’ interests.
In 2023, as an attempt to innovate the integration of sports and education, Jinan will promote the “Most Beautiful Home Stadium” competition on campuses across the city. Campus sports events run throughout the year, based on students’ physical health, practice of church, diligent practice, and regular competition. “All games with home and away conditions will be held on campus, allowing the game to return to campus.” Song Yu, deputy director of the Jinan Municipal Education Bureau, said that by standardizing campus events, advocating “civilized participation and civilized viewing”, we will achieve “school-based teams” , there are teams for each event, there are competitions every week, and everyone participates”, allowing more children to enjoy the fun of sports.
