Premier League: Unai Emery extends Aston Villa contract until 2027

Despite rumors, Unai Emery will not be the next Bayern Munich coach. The former PSG coach (2016-2018) has, in fact, decided to extend his contract until 2027 with the English club Aston Villa. The Spaniard transformed the Birmingham club. Arriving in October 2022 at the side of a team on the edge of the red zone, Unai Emery allowed the Villans to get back on track by finishing in 7th place last year before having a brilliant season this year.

Aston Villa, 4th in the Premier League, is, in fact, on the verge of qualifying for the next Champions League with 6 points ahead of Tottenham (5th). On the European scene, the English, who have just eliminated Lille in the quarter-final, will face Olympiakos in the semi-final of the Europa Conference League.

“We are delighted with how far we have come with the Villa fans, the club owners, the management and this great group of players who we are proud of,” the 52-year-old coach told the club website. We share the owners’ vision. Nassef [Sawiris] and Wes [Edens] support and respect us, and we have a good environment and the right structure to develop this football club. We must maintain the spirit of work, intelligent decisions and coordination with owners. We will work to improve again and again. And we will be demanding of each other. Ambition is already, and must always be, the motto of this project.”
