In Bottrop, a previously unidentified man tried to break into an apartment on the ground floor of an apartment building on August 26, 2023. Police report that the attempted break-in, which occurred between 12:30 and 12:35 p.m., failed. The man tried to get into the apartment through several tilted windows, but was unsuccessful.
A security camera installed by neighbors was able to record the incident and provided images of the suspect. The officers are now using these to search for the man following a court order. Such a public search is only possible when all other investigative approaches have been exhausted.
