Parma Clima and Palfinger Reggio Emilia took advantage of a day with a summer flavor to play two intense and profitable nine-inning friendlies this afternoon.
The matches, played on the diamond of the Caselli stadium in Reggio, ended with a double success for Meo Saccardi’s boys who clearly won the first match (9 to 0) and who struggled more in the second match, imposing themselves with the final of 8 to 6.
Game one saw the pitchers Casanova and Bocchi as protagonists. The Cuban veteran performed very successfully in the first five rounds. His scoresheet tells of 68 total pitches which led him to concede one hit and two base balls against seven outs at the plate. Also positive was the release of Matteo Bocchi, used for four shots and 60 throws. For him ten strikeouts and the concession of two hits and a base ball.
The offense had 16 total hits against pitchers Zanchi, Riccò and Carrasco. The best in the box were Desimoni (2 out of 3), Mineo (3 out of 5), Encarnacion (2 out of 4), Ascanio (2 out of 4) and Noel Gonzalez (2 out of 5).
The second match was more competitive, in which Parma Clima beat ten hits against the home team’s eleven. The two points scored in the eighth round were decisive for the ducal victory thanks to hits from Mineo and Encarnacion and a sacrifice fly from Ascanio. Wander Encarnacion was the star of the game (4 out of 4 with a double and a triple). Battioni and Ascanio also hit from three bases against the pitchers Madan, Faini and Ganassi. Alternating on the Parma mound were Figueredo (5 innings with 84 pitches, seven hits, three bases balls and seven strikeouts), Perez (two innings with three hits and two bases per ball) and Santana who closed the match with two strikeouts, one valid and 30 throws in the last two fractions.
Parma Clima will conclude the program of friendly preparation matches on Saturday 20 April by playing two matches on the Fortitudo Bologna pitch.
