Paris Subway Stations Renamed for April Fool’s Day: Trocanoe, Alexandre Du Marathon, Victor Judo

Some of the names of 15 city stations have been changed based on the pronunciation of sports events: ‘Trocanoe, Alexandre Du Marathon, and Victor Judo.’
The Paris Transport Authority (RATP), which manages the subway in downtown Paris, France, played a ‘little prank’ on the names of 15 subway stations to celebrate April Fool’s Day on the 1st (local time).

The theme of this April Fool’s Day event is the Olympics, which opens on July 26th this year.

To this end, Paris Transport Corporation employees replaced some of the signs at 15 subway stations the night before.

The name of Alexandre Dumas station on Line 2 is Alexandre Dumarathon, the name of Nation station is ‘Nation’, which means ‘swimming’ in French, and the name of Victor Hugo station is ‘Nation’, which means ‘swimming’ in French. changed to ‘Victor Judo’.

On Line 12, Sevres-Babylone station was replaced by Sevres-Badminton, and Solferino station was replaced by Surferino.

Trocadero station on line 9 became Trocanoe.

Every year on April Fool’s Day, the Paris Transport Corporation holds a 24-hour subway station renaming event.

This event is also part of the Olympic and Paralympic Week (April 2-6), which marks its 8th anniversary this year.

To prevent confusion among tourists, the Paris Transport Corporation left half of the signs on the platform with the original station names.
