Paris 2024 Olympic Games: Madeleine Malonga officially qualified with six other athletes

A judoka, four swimmers and two skippers. The French Olympic delegation has added seven athletes to its list of participants at the Paris Olympic Games (July 26-August 11). A validation in several stages following requests from the French judo, swimming and sailing federations which were then proposed by the Olympic Selection Consultative Commission (CCSO) then validated by the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF).

In detail, judokate Madeleine Malonga will be part of the French judo team this summer in the under 78 kg category. After individual silver and mixed team gold in Tokyo in 2021, the 30-year-old athlete will compete in her second Olympic Games, having just won the Grand Slam in Antalya (Turkey). The 2019 world champion will try to win gold after her defeat in the final four years ago. This decision by the CNOSF formalizes its selection at the expense of Audrey Tcheuméo. A distance duel which generated tensions between the two judokates.

The first four names of the French swimming delegation are added to the list of participants in the Paris Games. And more precisely in open water swimming, officially called “marathon swimming”. Among the women, Océane Cassignol and Caroline Jouisse will discover the Olympics at 23 and 29 years old respectively. Their qualifications had already been recorded since the beginning of February and have just been made official.

On the men’s side, Logan Fontaine and Marc-Antoine Olivier complete the list, the latter having already participated in the Games in Rio in 2016 and Tokyo in 2020. After bronze in Brazil and a sixth place in Japan, he hopes to find an Olympic podium. Finally, Lou Berthomieu and Tom Mourniac will participate in the sailing events at the Marseille Marina. With these seven new names, the French Olympic delegation now includes 60 athletes.
