Paju City, Gyeonggi Province, announced on the 16th that it has completed the construction of an indoor badminton court in Bangchuk-ri, Gwangtan-myeon.

Gwangtan Indoor Badminton Court is a badminton-only stadium built on two floors above ground with a total floor area of 745㎡ with a total project cost of 3.5 billion won, and is equipped with four courts.

The city began the project in November 2020 through a process of continuous communication and opinion collection with local residents and related organizations. Construction began in June of last year and was completed in March of this year. The city expects that the completion of this indoor badminton court will contribute to improving the health of residents in the Gwangtan area, which has been lacking sports facilities, revitalizing daily sports, and improving sports welfare.

Paju Mayor Kim Gyeong-il said, “It is expected that daily sports will be revitalized for citizens who lacked space to enjoy sports.” He added, “Paju City will fulfill its role as the venue for the Gyeonggi Province Sports Festival for the Disabled in April and the Gyeonggi Province Sports Festival in May, and will become a luxury sports city.” “I will do my best to move forward,” he said.
