Packers and Eagles start their NFL season in Sao Paulo

The international games of the National Football League (NFL) start in the first week this year – and for the first time Brazil will be the venue for a game in the regular season. The opponents on September 6th at the Arena Corinthians in Sao Paulo are the Green Bay Packers and the Philadelphia Eagles. The NFL said the game will be the first ever played in South America and the first first-round game on a Friday night since 1970.

Ricardo Nunes, the mayor of Sao Paulo, said he was looking forward to “a historic game that will bring great global attention to our city.” In total, as part of this year’s NFL International Games, as in 2023, five games of the regular season will be held outside the USA. In addition to Sao Paulo, the venues are London, where three matches will take place, and Munich.
