Saarbrücken (Saarland) – Fans are likely to be keen on the green: the city and third division soccer team 1. FC Saarbrücken are selling 600 pieces of the turf from the cup coup against FC Bayern Munich. A 40 by 20 centimeter piece costs 19.03 euros.
As a reminder: FCS sensationally defeated the German record champions 2-1 in the second round of the DFB Cup at the beginning of November 2023. Only 1. FC Kaiserslautern ended the Saarlanders’ dream of the final in Berlin.

After the turf had to be replaced in February because it was unplayable after football water fights, it ended up at the city’s green department.
It is said that the city of Saarbrücken, as the owner of the Ludwigsparkstadion, and the club agreed on the distribution of the turf to the fans several weeks ago.
It has already been clarified what will happen with the proceeds: half of the money will go to the Rodenhof elementary school and half to a non-profit institution supported by the FCS.

The lawn sale starts this Friday: sales, which run via the FCS ticketing system, are scheduled to begin at 7:03 p.m.
The lawn parts will be handed out on Thursday, May 2nd, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on Friday, May 3rd, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the central gardening center on Gersweiler Friedhofsweg.
The pieces of grass are then available with a certificate of authenticity – signed by Mayor Uwe Conradt and FCS President Hartmut Ostermann. So that everyone can prove that they really have a piece of green in their hands that Bayern slipped on.
