Last week, Tony Estanguet entrusted La Provence with the success of ticketing for the Olympic Games, with “nearly eight million” of tickets sold. Certain sports, such as sailing in Marseille, are already sold out for a long time, with 144,000 tickets sold for the twelve days of competition planned at the Roucas blanc marina.
This Wednesday, the head of the organizing committee announced that 250,000 new tickets will be put on sale next Tuesday at 10 a.m. on the official platform, “for all sports, all prize categories and all competition venues”. Half of the tickets will be 100 euros or less, with a starting price of 24 €, while tickets over 400 € will only represent 5%. “We will probably have to be quick, like every time we put tickets back on sale”warns the three-time Olympic canoe champion.
15,000 additional places for swimming, 2,000 for judo
New interesting opportunities will be offered, starting with sports which are currently full: 15,000 places for swimming at Paris La Défense Arena, 2,000 for judo, 9,000 for equestrian sports at the Château de Versailles, 12,000 for table tennis, 35,000 for beach volleyball at the foot of the Eiffel Tower or even 10,000 for gymnastics. Even sailing will therefore see its tonnage increase, without us knowing at this time the volume of places available.
These additional places do not come out of a magic hat: they respond to contingency plans, “because we have better knowledge of the organization of the sites”, explains Tony Estanguet. The Parisian organizing committee indicates, for example, that the athletics sessions for the women’s 100m final (August 3) and the men’s pole vault final (August 5) will again be accessible from 85 euros. Ditto for the 400m medley final by Léon Marchand at €85.
It will be possible to find a few places at the minimum price of €24 for the ladies’ mountain bike event (July 28) or to see the Lebrun brothers in table tennis.
