ÖJV Talentetag 2024: Developing Young Judo Talent in Austria’s Carinthia

On April 7, the ÖJV Talentetag 2024 took place at BSFZ Faak am See.
Judo-Austria youth coordinator Michael Winkler welcomed the 24 young judoka between the ages of 10 and 13. “The aim of the Talent Day is to show development opportunities and opportunities and to explain in detail what it really takes if you want to fight in international tournaments as a teenager or junior and how much you have to train for it or who can support you on this path “, explains Michael Winkler.

The Talent Day program included, among other things, a sporting test course (including evaluation), a lecture (The path of a judoka in Austria – from talent to competitive athlete or coach) and Randori training under the direction of ÖJV national team athlete Lisa Dengg.

In his lecture, Michael Winkler showed the children/young people possible paths into competitive sports or to careers as referees or officials: “Not everyone has to become a champion. The important thing is that you enjoy judo.”

After the lecture, the Randori training was on the agenda. Lisa Dengg showed off some of her techniques before the fights started. After the Randori training, Lisa answered the young judoka’s many questions.

Thanks to Lisa and Michael for the great day at the BSFZ Faak/See and we are already looking forward to the next talent day in Carinthia!
