European Championship qualification: first victory for the women’s national team

Austria’s women’s national team got the first victory they had hoped for in the European Championship qualification after the bitter defeat against Germany on Tuesday: the Austrians beat Poland 3-1 away.

After the 2-3 home defeat last Friday, the ÖFB team took their first win in Group A4. The hosts appeared brisk at the beginning and posed problems for the ÖFB selection. However, Puntigam made it 1-0 for Austria with a shot after a hole pass from Barbara Dunst (15th).

The Poles hit back in the second half: Kamczyk shot from a long distance and hit the crossbar (55′). A counter-attack gave Austria another lead: Dunst broke through on the left and found Purtscheller with the Stanglpass (66th). Campbell scored into the near corner to make it 3-1 in the 91st minute.
