OBC Nîmes Secures Promotion to Nationale 3 after Successful Season

Sunday April 21, at the end of the 14th and last day of Pré nationale, the OBC Nîmes obtained its accession to Nationale 3. A year after leaving it, the Gardois will therefore be back in the federal world the season next.

Then promoted to Nationale 3 for the first time in the history of the club, the Olympique Badminton club Nîmes (OBC) had come, had seen but not defeated, relegated to Pré nationale, in the spring of 2023, during the final day at end of a cruel defeat at home against Antibes.
A season has passed and here is the club of President Arnaud Coreen back in the federal world, 1st in its Pré nationale group at the end of this 2023-2024 financial year.

Nîmes resisted the return of Blagnac

”At the start of the season, recalls player-coach Swann Michel, we knew it was going to be complicated because, on paper, we were not the best team. We really had a very, very good start and middle of the season which allowed us to remain leader until the end.”
A small point lead over Blagnac was enough to crown a Nîmes team with 10 wins, 1 draw and 3 defeats for the year. ”There, in N3, the objective, this time, will be to try to maintain itself by strengthening the squad a little further, notes the coach. We are in the middle of the transfer window.”

Michel, coach: ”Recruit players who reflect our team and with our values”

A recruitment, precisely, that should not be missed, which Michel is well aware of: ”During our first season in N3, we did not set the right criteria. This year, we recruited players from the National Pre and it went much better. The objective is to recruit players who reflect our team and our values.”

On the OBC courts, we can already see further. ”Accession was one of the club’s two objectives, the other being to try to bring young people to a high level, indicates Michel, holder of a DES. We have some who are in the top 10 nationally. Nathan Michalak returns to Pôle Espoir next year. Let’s say that we’re not yet where I want it to be but, in any case, it’s under development.”
