Last week, Novak Djokovic surprised people by announcing the departure of his coach, Goran Ivanisevic. Coach of the Serbian champion since 2019, many rumors surrounding the reasons for this end of collaboration. But like Novak Djokovic, Goran Ivanisevic explains that it is only a matter of saturation, after five successful years.

After being eliminated from the Australian Open in the semi-final by Jannick Sinner, Novak Djokovic will certainly want to set the record straight Roland-Garros. But this will be done without his trainer, Goran Ivanisevic, from whom he decided to part ways last week, after five years of collaboration.

“The saturation point has simply been reached”

On his Instagram account, Novak Djokovic explained the reason for his choice: “First of all, Goran is my friend for life. He is a very dear person to me, the end of our professional collaboration does not mean that our friendship ends. The saturation point has simply been reached. We felt it was time to go our separate ways. Our separation was positive, as positive as a separation can be. We just got to a point where we exhausted our cooperation after almost five years. »

“He got tired of me and I got tired of him”

In comments reported by We Love Tennis, Goran Ivanisevic returned to his separation from Novak Djokovic : “I have read a lot of things (on the reasons for this separation, editor’s note)… People must write, but no one has managed to find. There is no real reason, the real reason is saturation. These five years have been extremely difficult, people forget what happened with Covid and that at one point, it was the big bad guy because of the issue of non-vaccination. We were still in an intermediate stage, a minister banned him from playing, the madness with Australia… There was saturation. And he got tired of me and I got tired of him. I couldn’t help him anymore, but we did a hell of a job. »
