Casper Ruud is in the final of the 1000 Masters tournament in Monte Carlo. The Norwegian defeated world number one Novak Djokovic in a real thriller.

Unbelievable, this game! Casper Ruud (ATP 10) met none other than world number one Novak Djokovic in the second semi-final on Saturday – and defeated him. The Norwegian kept the upper hand 6:4, 1:6 and 6:4 and followed Stefanos Tsitsipas into the final in Monte Carlo. He had previously defeated Jannik Sinner.

Ruud had not won a single set in the previous five duels against Djokovic. But on Saturday he played big and even won two of them. For the Norwegian it is the third final in 2024, the last two (in Los Angeles and Acapulco) were lost. In general, Ruud is looking for his first success in a 1000 Masters tournament – he could achieve it on Sunday.

The final against Stefanos Tsitsipas takes place on Sunday from 3 p.m. The balance between the two is just 3:2 in favor of the Greek – but in the last meeting in February, Ruud won 2:0 (6:4, 7:6).
