Due to the new league standards, which require, among other things, a full-time employee in administration and junior staff, a basketball floor free of external lines in the medium term and uniform technical equipment, those responsible for the Angels were forced to ask fans and companies to be more willing to donate and sponsor to enable the club to continue to exist. The deadline has passed these days – for the license application for the 2024/2025 season, but also for the club’s financial security. The club announced that it is now clear that the self-imposed goal of 75,000 euros for the license application was reached on time and on time. The application for a license was sent on time and is currently being examined by the league. Feedback on this is expected in the coming weeks. In addition to the acute requirement for the license to prove certain funds, around 40,000 euros will have to be acquired in the coming months in addition to the 75,000 euros. The background to this is the enormous increase in running costs during the season, which can also be attributed to the new league standards, according to the Angels. In the medium to long term, the goal will be to significantly increase the club’s total budget of 300,000 euros in order to meet increasing demands and to remain competitive.
After the sporting relegation of their league rivals from Marburg, the Angels Nördlingen are the longest-serving club with the longest continuous first division membership in the 1st DBBL and therefore the only remaining “Dino” in the competition. Those responsible are therefore working intensively to ensure that there continues to be Bundesliga basketball in Nördlingen. All interested parties will soon be informed about the next big steps.
