New Concession Process for Local Sports Facilities in Cesena Announced

Important aids for training, growth and socialization. In view of the expiry of the current concession service, scheduled for June 30th, as many as 22 local sports facilities will soon be involved in a procedure for a new management assignment for the next seven years. In this regard, the municipal offices of Education and Sport educational services are engaged in defining the administrative process which will involve amateur sports associations, sports promotion bodies, associations of associated sports disciplines and national sports federations, whose statutes include among the purposes the sporting purpose.

“The entrusting of the management of sports facilities to amateur sports associations – comments the Sports Councilor Christian Castorri – responds to specific social objectives and the protection of public assets, as these realities, essential for the territory and for all the families whose children practice sports, represent a fundamental social capital for the quality of life of the city, considering that they involve thousands of practitioners, particularly among young people. The renewal of this relationship also pursues the dual aim of ensuring continuity of the activity, promotion and sports programming, as well as protection of the municipal facilities heritage. Thanks to the work of these associations, and the constant collaboration with the municipal administration, we are able to enhance every single facility, mostly five-a-side football, baseball and tennis courts with related service areas, and facilitate their full use”.

The new procedure will affect all neighborhood sports facilities with the exception of the Villachiaviche sports center as it is affected by funds from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, for which the concession will be extended by one year. Specifically, the new concession will concern the following facilities: Bianconero sports center (via Marzolino) in the Fiorenzuola district; Pievesestina sports center (Via Kulischoff), at Dismano; Borello sports center (via Fiume), in the Borello district; the San Giorgio plant (via Montaletto) in the Cervese Nord; the Ronta plant (via dei Ciclamini), in the Ravenna area; the Ponte Pietra sports center (via Prampolini) in the Al Mare district; the center of Pioppa (via Cervese) in Cervese; the Ponte Abbadesse sports center (via Sulmona) in Cesuola; the center of S. Carlo (via Frassati) in the Valle Savio district; the Vigne plant (via Cervese) in the Cervese South; the baseball field in via Arzignano, in the Cervese Sud; the Diegaro sports center (via Canapino), in the Oltresavio district; the Vigne IACP sports center (via N. Casali) in the southern Cervese area; the center of Macerone (via Olaf Palme) in the Al Mare district; the model car track in via Arzignano; the archery facility in via Vigne in Pievesestina; the billiards facility in via Marzolino; the center of Borgonuovo (via Battara) in Oltresavio; the center of Tipano (via Tipano) in the Vallesavio district; the “Elio Maraldi” sports center in via Falconara in Ponte Abbadesse. Added to these are the two former Gil gyms.

The entrusting of the management of these structures is appropriate not only in terms of promotion and development of associative and sporting activities, but also to safeguard the integrity of the places and guarantee all maintenance services. In the next few weeks, all the information to take part in the public procedure will be published on the Cesena Municipality website.
