As the franchise announced, Williamson is currently out with a left thigh injury. How long the powerhouse will be missing is still unclear. Williamson will be checked again in the coming weeks, but he definitely cannot play in the decisive game for the last remaining playoff ticket in the West against the Kings.

Williamson was injured in the final stages of the first play-in game against the Los Angeles Lakers. His exit with 3:13 left on the clock when the score was even was one of the main reasons for the 106-110 loss to the Lakers.

NBA: Injury sets Williamson back again

Previously, the forward had almost single-handedly led his team back into the game. After falling behind, Williamson took over and his team equalized. In the final phase, the Pelicans had little to counter without their superstar, who put up 40 points and eleven rebounds until his injury.

For Williamson it was the first game with at least 40 points and ten rebounds in the NBA. Many observers had actually hoped for such figures much earlier from the talent that was currently hyped about collage. The fact that the number one pick in the 2019 NBA draft is only now able to do this is also due to his injury history.

This season he played almost the entire season for the first time, appearing in 71 of 82 games and now in the postseason for the first time. Because Williamson missed both the play-in games and playoffs in 2022 as well as the play-in game in 2023. Now the bad luck with injuries strikes again.
