NBA Eastern Conference Playoff Race: Magic, Sixers, Pacers, and Heat Battle for Position

NBA – The Magic, the Sixers, the Pacers and the Heat are held in one victory between 5th and 8th place in the Eastern Conference.

With the Magic stalling for three games, the Sixers’ winning streak, the Pacers’ defeat and the Heat’s victory, it’s impossible to know the final order for places 5 to 8! The Magic (5th), the Pacers (6th) and the Sixers (7th) have the same record with 46 victories and 35 defeats. The Heat (8th) is just behind with 45 wins and 35 losses. But Miami can overtake everyone, and still finish 5th!

Here are all the possible scenarios, and don’t forget to take a Doliprane!

The final schedule

  • Orlando – Milwaukee
  • Indiana – Atlanta
  • Philadelphia – Brooklyn
  • Miami – Toronto

The teams are on an equal footing since they all host for the last match of the season. However, it is obvious that the Sixers and the Heat will have a much easier confrontation than the Magic. Remember that the Bucks, if they hold on to their 2nd place, must win. As for the Pacers, they welcome the Hawks who are preparing for the second game of the “play-in”. With a victory, it would be better since Trae Young’s partners remain on six defeats in a row.

Le « tie-breaker »

Many scenarios are still possible for the final day. But if the Magic, Pacers and Sixers win, it will be a three-team tie-breaker whose first criterion will be first place in a division, then the winning percentage between the three teams. This is also the case if there is a tie-breaker between the four teams.

If the tie-breaker were to decide only two teams, the victory in a division would then take second place in favor of the particular record in the regular season.

For the Magic to qualify directly for the playoffs

  • In the event of a victory over the Bucks, the Magic are guaranteed to finish in the playoffs. In a 3-way tie-breaker, they will win since they are number 1 in the Southeast division. Paolo Banchero’s team could finish 6th in the event of a two-way tie-breaker against the Sixers (if the Pacers lose and Philadelphia wins).
  • In the event of a defeat against the Bucks, they need a Pacers defeat and a Heat defeat to finish at least 6th. If the Sixers were to lose too, the standings would remain as is.

For the Pacers to qualify directly for the playoffs

  • In the event of a victory against the Hawks, the Pacers are also guaranteed to go to the playoffs. In the 3-way tie-breaker, they have the advantage over the Sixers having beaten them two out of three times.
  • In the event of a defeat against the Hawks, the Pacers need a defeat by the Sixers to qualify for the playoffs, they will have the tie-breaker over the Heat (2-1 this season).

For the Sixers to qualify directly for the playoffs

  • The Sixers absolutely need to win against the Nets, but they must also hope for a defeat by the Pacers to finish 5th. Philadelphia finishes 6th if Orlando or Indiana lose and they beat the Nets.
  • In case of defeat, they need an Orlando loss ET d’Indiana ET of a Heat victory.

For the Heat to qualify directly for the playoffs

  • The Heat absolutely must win against the Raptors. Miami must also hope for a defeat of the Magic and the Sixers or Indiana to finish 6th as division champion. In the event that the other three teams lose, they could even finish 5th!
