NBA 2023-24 Season: Teams and Players with Disappointing Campaigns

The 2023-24 season is far from over. In fact, the good stuff has just begun, but even though everything is still up for grabs, there are some teams and players whose campaigns are already over… lucky for them.

Whether by not meeting expectations or simply signing a season to forget, many protagonists of the 2023-24 season have ended the season with a total failure.

Golden State Warriors

The defeat against the Sacramento Kings marked the end of the 2023-24 season for those from the Bay… and the more than possible end of the Golden State Warriors dynasty as well. The team that not long ago spread panic in the NBA and even won the ring two seasons ago hit rock bottom in the play-in and everything points to a general disbandment. The worst possible ending for a legendary team.

Chris Paul

One of the greats highlighted by the Warriors’ bad season. He said at the beginning of the season that he couldn’t imagine finishing his career without the ring… well, let him get used to the idea. 9.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 6.8 assists for a player who is a few days away from turning 39 and whose contract for the 2024-25 season is not guaranteed.

Detroit Pistons

There was no type of expectation with them, but making history in the NBA with your streak of consecutive losses and signing the worst balance in the history of the franchise deserves a place in our ranking.

Jordan Poole

He left the Golden State Warriors through the back door and ended up with the Washington Wizards. On paper, the perfect opportunity to show that he could be much more than a complement and on top of that in a team with 0 aspirations and without any type of pressure. The result? An absolute disaster, featuring more ‘fails’ and resounding failures than notable matches. 17.4 points, 2.7 rebounds and 4.4 assists on average, yes, but with the Wizards sunk in the standings, 41.3% shooting from the field and being literally one of the worst players in the entire NBA in the defensive aspect.

The Eastern Conference

Once again, the Western Conference has been by far the most equal and competitive. Eight of the fifteen teams from the East finished the regular phase with more losses than wins, something unthinkable on the other coast. In fact, the Bulls and Hawks entered the play-in with a negative balance, with the Atlanta team fighting to enter the playoffs despite their 36-46 record. Not to mention the 21-61 of the Charlotte Hornets, the 15-67 of the Washington Wizards or the 14-68 of the Detroit Pistons.

The All Star

He has definitely hit rock bottom. The absolutely pitiful spectacle put on by the NBA’s best players is something that cannot be repeated if the league wants to maintain some seriousness with All-Star Weekend. A 211-186 is something unworthy of basketball and despite the fact that important names in the NBA asked for it, the players did not take it seriously, so it would not be surprising if Adam Silver pulled something out of his hat again.

Usman Garuba

It seemed that leaving the Houston Rockets was good news for the Spanish international, but he has not finished finding his place in the Golden State Warriors. His outlook in the NBA is becoming more complicated at times and no move should be ruled out this summer.
