National League Implements NBA-Inspired Rules for Exciting Season Ahead

On Wednesday, the National League voted new rules for next season inspired directly by the NBA. So far, the top eight qualified for the playoffs. In order to make the fight for the final stages more exciting and to involve more teams, there will now be a play-in. That is to say that the first six (as in the USA) will be automatically qualified but the teams ranked 7 to 10 will compete to win the first two places during meetings before the playoffs: we call that the play-in.

Another change, expected this one, in an Elite reduced to 16, there will only be one relegated but the 15th, now saved, will have to compete in the Pro B playoffs and win them to keep your place. The goal is to give interest to the future Pro B, which is very well stocked with teams (20 clubs) and which would, without that, have had an endless soft underbelly.

Other measure announced: reducing the number of player changes. Until now, each team could use 16 contracts as they saw fit, with a restriction to only medical wildcards from March. From now on, clubs will have to submit a final squad at the start of the season and will only be able to add a maximum of 3 elements + 2 possible medical jokers from March.
