Millonarios Holds Flamengo to a Draw in Copa Libertadores

In the preview of the match, the Brazilians talked about the difference in checkbook between Millonarios and Flamengo, however, in El Campín that difference was not seen. The Colombian team fought on an equal footing with those led by Tite, who looked restless throughout the game. The ambassadors had several scoring options and in the first half they were able to take advantage by several goals. The first 45 minutes were masterful. Defensive order and a lot of creativity.

In the complementary part they suffered and especially when Millonarios had to fight and put more heart than they had already put in when they were left with 10 men. The high points were: Alex Moreno Paz, Juan Pablo Vargas, Daniel Cataño and Leonardo Castro who returned with a lot of energy. A 1-1 draw that could have been a victory. Rossi could not continue adding minutes to his record.

Then, Millonarios had another clear one with the ’10’. Cross by Jhoan Hernández and header deflected. Hands on Gamero’s head for the unspecified options.

Millonarios continued to dominate and press and in the 37th minute a very clear play came. Perfect cross from Delvin Alfonzo to Leonardo Castro who won in the jump, the ball hit the post and the rebound was grabbed by Larry Vásquez who went over Rossi’s goal. Two minutes later the one who had it was Santiago Giordana who administered a counterattack very well. The Argentine finished off and the Argentine goalkeeper saved again.

In the 62nd minute, Flamengo’s goal came from the penalty spot. Larry Vásquez committed a foul in the area on Arrascaeta. Argentine judge Darío Herrera did not hesitate and whistled a penalty and he also gave the driver a red card. The person in charge of collecting it was Pedro who put it at the angle to Montero.

Mackalister Silva began to team up with Daniel Cataño to look for the tying goal, the ’10’ lacked that spark at the end to find spaces. Alberto Gamero made two important changes at the end, he sent Daniel Ruiz and Emerson Rodríguez to the playing field who in a few minutes changed the game. In the 80th minute they achieved the tie.
