Still hasn’t had enough: Mikael Ymer

You always meet twice. This apparently also applies to Mikael Ymer and tennis. The Swede announced his resignation via social media on Monday. “Retirement was boring, see you in eight months,” wrote the former world number 50. on X (formerly Twitter).

The fact that Ymer will only return to the tour in eight months is due to his doping ban from 2023. The now 25-year-old was banned for 18 months in July because of three missed doping tests. The International Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) partially upheld an appeal from the world tennis association ITF.

In response to the “unfair” ban, Ymer subsequently announced his resignation. In a few months the Swede, who, together with his brother Elias, was once considered the great hope of the proud tennis nation, will now make a second attempt.
