Messi’s Inter Miami, eliminated by Monterrey de Canales from the CONCACAF Champions League

MADRID, 11 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Leo Messi’s Inter Miami was eliminated this Wednesday from the CONCACAF Champions, the Champions League of North America, Central America and the Caribbean, after losing the second leg of the quarterfinals 3-1 against the Mexican Monterrey, which had also won in the first leg 1-2, in a match where the Argentine striker was not present.

The one from Rosario will not be able to lift the CONCACAF Champions title after being eliminated from the competition by a resounding 5-2 overall in favor of the ‘Rayados’ where the Spanish Sergio Canales plays. The Argentine, injured in the first leg, played the 90 minutes of the second leg, in which, despite contributing with an assist for Diego Gómez’s goal, he could not prevent his team’s elimination.

Sergio Busquets, Luis Suárez and Jordi Alba also participated in the North American team, the latter sent off for a double yellow in the 78th minute of the match, when the match was already going on with a resounding 3-0 with goals from Brandon Vázquez, Germán Berterame and Jesús Gallant. On the Monterrey side, Spanish midfielder Sergio Canales played 85 minutes of the game and was once again the ‘metronome’ of the Central American team.

Now, in the semifinals, the ‘Rayados’, five-time champions of the competition, will face the Columbus Crew, a team also from the American MSL. The other penultimate round match of the tournament will face two Mexican teams, Pachuca and Club América.
