Meeting High-Level Athletes: Archers Pierre-Julien Deloche and Maxime Guérin Share Their Stories

Pierre-Julien Deloche and Maxime Guérin, two archers, went to Neuville-aux-Bois on Friday April 19 to testify about their disciplines and their careers.

The special “Passing of the Olympic flame” program continues in Neuville-aux-Bois with the monthly meeting entitled “Meeting a high-level athlete”.

Two archers were in the spotlight on Friday at the village hall: Pierre-Julien Deloche, former world No. 1 in the compound bow discipline; and Maxime Guérin, archer who represented France at the Rio Paralympic Games in 2016.

The arrow flies at 300 km/h

A shooting demonstration was held inside the village hall – because it was too windy in the park. The two athletes explained the different types of bow and targets then offered a beautiful demonstration of their art under the amazed gaze of the children and archers from the Neuville sports archery section.

In order to make their explanations more lively, they asked questions to the little ones, and the adults were able to learn that an arrow shot from a compound bow pierces the air at 300 km/h, the speed of a TGV. This demonstration was followed by a conference on the careers of the two speakers.

On the agenda

Next meeting with high-level athletes on Saturday May 25, with Clément and Louis Laine-Campino, two table tennis players who are part of the Loiret team. A tournament with the Neuville residents will be held at 3 p.m. on the Place du Général-Leclerc if weather permits, or in the table tennis room. This event is free.
