Lunin Saves the Day: Real Madrid’s Hero in Champions League Victory over Manchester City

Andriy Lunin become a hero Real Madrid when ejecting Manchester City from the Champions League. Federico Valverde give praise to the goalkeeper.

Madrid visited Man City’s headquarters in the second leg of the quarter-finals, Thursday (18/4/2024) early morning WIB. The duel was a 1-1 draw until 2×15 minutes of added time.

The winner must then be found via penalty shootout. This is because Madrid and Man City drew 3-3 in the first leg.

Madrid then went home as winners because they won 4-3 on penalties. Lunin performed well by blocking two shots from Bernardo Silva and Mateo Kovacic.

“This is an extraordinary job done by the team. Lunin should be congratulated because in the first leg he was criticized for his play which could have happened to anyone,” said Valverde, quoted on Madrid’s official website.

Valverde is the best player in this match. The Uruguayan midfielder was given an award trophy.

“Today he showed his face, he showed the courage you have to show at Real Madrid,” Valverde added regarding Lunin’s performance.
