Luka Doncic leads Mavericks to victory with clutch performance against Clippers

It was a battle of attrition until crunch time and Luka Doncic let out a primal scream 90 seconds before the end, when the Mavericks superstar hit his fifth three-pointer of the night to give Dallas a 9-point lead. The Slovenian scored a total of 32 points (11/26 FG, 5/14 3P) and distributed 9 assists. The guard turned things up again, especially in the fourth quarter, giving Dallas the best offensive quarter of the game.

For a long time it was the defense that kept Dallas in the game, as the role players hardly scored anything. That changed in the final quarter when PJ Washington (18, 5/10) and Maxi Kleber (6, 2/3 3P, 5 rebounds in 27 minutes) netted important three-pointers and put Dallas on the road to victory. Kyrie Irving (23, 8/18) also played a good game, especially his defense was exemplary.

Kawhi Leonard (15, 7/17, 4 steals) played 35 minutes in his comeback for the Clippers after inflammation in his knee, but was still very rusty. The best scorers for the hosts, who only shot 35 percent from the field, were James Harden (22, 6/14 FG, 2/10 3P, 7 assists) and Paul George (22, 7/14). Ivica Zubac (13, 12 rebounds) recorded another double-double, Daniel Theis did not play.
