In the Premier League title fight, slip-ups are not allowed – and Liverpool FC loses in the derby against Everton FC and is now three points behind Arsenal FC. Jürgen Klopp is annoyed and becomes clear.

Jürgen Klopp clearly criticized the Liverpool FC players after the 2-0 defeat at Everton FC and the bitter setback in the fight for the English football championship. “We have to look in the mirror and be very critical of ourselves. Our counter-pressing was terrible,” said the outgoing coach on English television at the end of the season and, referring to the name of the English second division, said: “I think a championship team wouldn’t have played like we did.”

Jarrad Branthwaite (27th) and Dominic Calvert-Lewin (58th) scored for the hosts at Goodison Park on Wednesday evening. In the Premier League, Liverpool are still three points behind Arsenal in second place. The front-runner clearly won the derby against Chelsea FC 5-0 (1-0) on Tuesday and extended the lead over rivals Liverpool and Manchester City to three and four points respectively.

Champion City have played two fewer games and play at Brighton & Hove Albion on Thursday. If City win both games they will be five points ahead of Liverpool.

“We weren’t good enough today. We gave Everton the game they wanted,” Klopp said. When asked whether he still believed he would be in the championship race, he replied: “It doesn’t matter to me today. That’s not what it is about. We have to play better.”

The club is apparently one step further in its search for a successor to Jürgen Klopp. According to information from the British broadcaster Sky Sports, Liverpool FC has started negotiations with the Dutch second-placed team Feyernoord Rotterdam to bring their coach Arne Slot to Anfield. The broadcaster cited sources close to Feyernoord. Accordingly, the 45-year-old Slot is moving to Liverpool.
