List of 14 Indonesian Representatives at the 2024 Badminton Asia Championships

KOMPAS.com – The Indonesian badminton team sent 14 representatives to the Badminton Asia Championships (BAC) or the 2024 Badminton Asia Championship.

The 2024 Badminton Asia Championships schedule will take place in Ningbo, China, from Tuesday (9/4/2024) to Sunday (14/4/2024).

Indonesia originally sent 15 representatives, but PBSI withdrew women’s doubles Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti.

They withdrew because Apriyani Rahayu still had to recover after injuring her right calf.

Without Apriyani/Fadia, Indonesia still has two women’s doubles representatives at BAC 2024, namely Ribka Sugiarto/Lanny Tria Mayasari and Rachel Allessya Rose/Meilysa Trias Puspitasari.

Rebekah/Lanny and Rachel/Meilysa both have winning capital ahead of BAC 2024. Rachel/Meilysa won the 2024 Orleans Masters.

Meanwhile, Rebekah/Lanny were the best in the women’s doubles sector when competing at the 2024 Swiss Open.

On the other hand, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting and Jonatan Christie are Indonesia’s focus in the men’s singles event.

Ginting came to China as the defending champion after defeating Loh Kean Yew (Singapore) at the Badminton Asia Championships last year.

Meanwhile, Jonathan has the capital to win the All England 2024 after winning the Red and White duel against Ginting.

“I feel like my confidence has increased after becoming the All England champion. Hopefully this can have a positive impact on my performance in the middle of the field,” said Jonathan.

Turning to the women’s singles, Indonesia sent three representatives, namely Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, Putri Kusuma Wardani, and Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo.

In men’s doubles, there are Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri, and Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin.

Like Jonathan, Fajar/Rian also arrived after winning the All England 2024. They climbed to the championship podium after defeating Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik (Malaysia).

“We are ready. The preparations were smooth and there were no obstacles. The victory at All England last time was certainly an encouragement for us and Fajar. We will continue to fight to achieve the next achievement,” said Rian.
