Ligue 1: clashes between supporters of Rennes and Toulouse leave 10 injured

A few hours before the meeting between Rennes and Toulouse this Saturday at 9 p.m., counting for the 29th day of Ligue 1, clashes took place between supporters of the two teams leaving ten injured, the prosecutor’s office in the Breton capital told AFP.

“Around 2:20 p.m., rue de Chatillon, a clash broke out between around a hundred supporters from Rennes and Toulouse. Ten Toulouse residents were injured, but only one was hospitalized for possible head trauma,” said Rennes public prosecutor Philippe Astruc, confirming information from local media.

“The first testimonies indicate that ultras from Rennes would have come to fight with Toulouse supporters,” added the magistrate, specifying that until now there had been no complaints or arrests.

An investigation entrusted to the Interdepartmental Directorate of the National Police (DIPN) of Rennes has been opened. “In view of the proven risk of disturbances to public order” weighing on this meeting, the prefecture of Ille-et-Vilaine took Thursday “by decree temporary restrictive measures intended to protect people and property”.
