LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant to Lead United States Men’s Basketball Team in Paris 2024 Olympics

LeBron James, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant will lead the almighty United States men’s basketball team for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The ESPN network and The Athletic portal announced this Monday eleven of the twelve players who will be part of the stars and stripes team for this Olympic event.

Thus, in addition to LeBron (Los Angeles Lakers), Curry (Golden State Warriors) and Durant (Phoenix Suns), Anthony Davis (Lakers), Joel Embiid (Philadelphia 76ers), Devin Booker (Suns), and Anthony Edwards will also be in the French capital (Minnesota Timberwolves), Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics), Jrue Holiday (Celtics), Bam Adebayo (Miami Heat) and Tyrese Haliburton (Indiana Pacers).

In this way, the impressive team coached by Steve Kerr (Warriors) still has a free spot to fill to complete the twelve positions on the team.

According to The Athletic, Kawhi Leonard (Los Angeles Clippers) is the leading candidate for that twelfth spot. Paul George (Clippers), Paolo Banchero (Orlando Magic), Mikal Bridges (Brooklyn Nets) and Jalen Brunson (New York Knicks) are also being considered.

Along with Carmelo Anthony, Durant is the only player to have won three Olympic golds. On the other hand, Curry has never competed in any games.

For his part, LeBron took bronze in 2004, won gold in 2008 and 2012 and did not attend the 2016 and 2020 events.

Since the ‘Dream Team’ of 1992, the USA has won gold in all the Olympic Games, including the 2008 Olympics with the ‘Redeem Team’, except in Athens 2004, when a historic and unforgettable Argentine team won.

The United States has just failed in the 2023 World Cup, where it placed fourth.
