Last match of the Play-In Gold for Virtus on Sunday

Virtus cannot be impressed by the only victory obtained by Angri in the second phase (in the first leg match: 82-78); in fact, the Campania team’s remaining playoff chances depend on Sunday evening’s performance at PalaPadua (6pm at two o’clock). The challenge, valid for the eighth day of the Gold Play-Ins of the Interregional Serie B championship, will serve to establish Ragusa’s positioning in the playoff grid: considering the direct clash between Orlandina and Molfetta, a victory for Virtus would mean joining one of the top two positions, with the acquisition of field factor also in a possible semi-final.

There are all the conditions for hitting the parquet with energy. This week, the club invited the public to dress in blue to stand alongside the boys and honor the team’s progress. On the eve of the match, Recupido’s assistant coach, Lia Valerio, spoke: “During the week we prepared for the match by thinking exclusively of ourselves – he assures – because the championship formula does not allow calculations and it is not in our interest to do so. The goal is to go on the pitch and try to play for first place. We’re not thinking about the playoffs yet, we trained with the aim of being competitive on Sunday.”

Ragusa is fresh from the victory in Molfetta: hard, sweaty and satisfying. “We took a big step forward – admits Lia Valerio – because for the first time we managed to do what we wanted and what we had to do for 40 minutes, with a high intensity throughout the match, and not in spurts. We can consider ourselves satisfied, despite some moments of decline which, moreover, are also due to the quality and the physical and organized defense put on the pitch by Molfetta”. But against Angri it is already time to move on. Sunday’s race will be directed by Mr. Tartamella from Trapani and Mr. Puglisi from Acicatena. The match will also be broadcast live on the website www.virtusragusabasket.it at a cost of three euros.
