The weather was good, everything was in place for the competition to take place in the best possible conditions.
In a field crossbow competition, we practice with a crossbow that is loaded with bare hands and that propels arrows outdoors, the bow has a power of 95 pounds. The competitor can only wear so-called city or sports clothing, and now white clothing is obligatory. The targets used during the competition are the same as those used in archery (tri-spot at 35 m and a single target for 50 and 65 m).
The spirit of the Field crossbow combines an athletic, playful and friendly side. In France, this discipline is under the aegis of the French Shooting Federation.
For athletes, it involves shooting 10 ends of 3 arrows at 65 m, then the same at 50 m and finally the same at 35 m. Each distance is preceded by 2 test ends of 3 arrows in 5 minutes, then match ends in 3 minutes each.
Three clubs from the department were represented: Pleumartin, Neuville and Ceaux-en-Loudun. On May 5, the IR900 regional championships will take place at the same location, and will welcome shooters from the Poitou Charentes shooting league.
