Kia’s EV9 SUV named world car of the year

OTHER REWARDS

EUROPEAN CAR OF THE YEAR:
RENAULT SCENIC
The most prestigious prize on the Old Continent sees Renault confirm its return to the top with the victory of the Scenic, an all-electric SUV which is ahead of the BMW 5 Series and the Peugeot 3008. Proof if there is one of the strong comeback of Renault as innovative brand, also helped by the design of Gilles Vidal who signed his first real creation with Scenic.
CAR OF THE YEAR BY ARGUS:
DACIA DUSTER
At a time when Dacia is offering the all-new Duster for testing, the French specialist press has designated the family SUV, now an old generation, as a benchmark car due to its exemplary quality/price/reliability ratio. No stranger to awards, Dacia will compete again in 2024 with its completely redesigned SUV, now powered by the 140 hp hybrid and automatic gearbox from the Renault family.
AUTOMOBILE AWARDS (PUBLIC PRIZE):
ALPINE A110 R
Among the prizes distributed at the Automobile Club de France shows in Paris, the one resulting from the public vote saw the automotive spirit prevail over rationality and political correctness, with the election of the most radical Alpine standard, the 110 R. Elected with 19.6% of the votes ahead of the Peugeot E-3008 (15.3%), the A110 R is a 34 kg lighter version compared to the S version and it is designed before everything for use on the circuit with its semi-slick tires. It develops 300 hp and reaches 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds.
MAN OF THE YEAR (“JOURNAL DE L’AUTOMOBILE”):
DENIS LE VOT (DACIA GENERAL DIRECTOR)
Building on the commercial successes of the popular brand of the Renault group, Denis le Vot not only supported but accelerated the move upmarket of the manufacturer of Romanian origin which will have accounted for 660,000 registrations in 2023, almost exclusively for individuals. Proof of a match between current demand, essentially constrained by prices, and the offer of a manufacturer which, although it remains one of the cheapest on the market, no longer claims to be a low cost brand , but more logically at the “fair price”.
