Kevin Trapp to Wear European Flag Armband as Eintracht Frankfurt Captain in Support of European Elections

Because Sebastian Rode (33) is injured, Kevin Trapp (33) is currently wearing the captain’s armband for Eintracht Frankfurt. Usually this is simply white, with a large C for “Captain” in the middle.

By the end of the season, Trapp’s armband will have a new, very unusual coat of paint!

The goalkeeper will lead Eintracht onto the field for the remaining seven games of the season wearing a European flag armband. With this adjustment, the Frankfurters want to expressly draw attention to the upcoming European elections (June 6th to 9th, 2024) and encourage their own fans to go vote.

“As an association, we want to motivate and sensitize people to vote for the European Parliament and stand up for democratic values. Not just through keyword campaigns, but also through content. So that forces are bundled in a spectrum that preserves the European idea,” said board spokesman Axel Hellmann (52) during a visit to Brussels in February.

Eintracht, whose campus is located at the postal address “In the Heart of Europe 1”, also wants to promote diversity and cohesion.

Trapp will wear the newly designed European armband in the Bundesliga home game against Werder Bremen on Friday evening (8.30 p.m., DAZN live).
