Kevin Durant’s Key to Staying Healthy: Avoiding Floppers and Leg-Injury Risks in the NBA

NBA – The Suns star winger has found a simple technique to stay healthy: move away from floppers and those who fall into his legs.

With 75 matches on the clock, Kevin Durant signed his season more robust since his Achilles tendon injury during the 2019 Finals. He who was a subscriber to truncated seasons finally shone from start to finish, without a prolonged stay in the infirmary.

How does he explain it? “No player has come to get in my way this season”, he answers. “The last two years I’ve had teammates and opponents run into my legs and I’ve had ligament injuries. Without that, I would have had the same season as this year. »

But how does he manage not to encounter players who flop or end up in his legs? “I stay away from players who try to get whistles, who don’t care about injuring players by throwing themselves to the ground to get a foul. I know them and I avoid them. »

Over the past two years, Kevin Durant had actually suffered a knee injury following this type of situation. With Bruce Brown, his teammate in Brooklyn, in 2021/22, then Jimmy Butler last season.

This year, the 35-year-old winger has only had minor problems with his right foot and left ankle, which have never caused absences of more than three matches in a row.

“I feel solid, as solid as after 75 matches. I was lucky to be able to play this season and not to have had too many serious injuries or long rehabilitations. Let’s hope it continues like this”he concludes.
