Kevin De Bruyne Absent from Real Madrid Match Due to Illness and Shares Jersey Exchange with Luka Modric

Kevin De Bruyne remained on the bench for the entire match (3-3) against Real Madrid due to illness. Afterwards he came onto the field and was immediately well surrounded.

It soon became clear why the Red Devil was absent: he was suffering from stomach problems. “He’s not feeling well,” Guardiola said. “During our meeting he seemed fine, but when we entered the locker room he suddenly started vomiting and indicated that he was not ready.”

De Bruyne did not appear on the field at the Bernabéu, but took a seat on the substitute bench after some encouraging gestures in the players’ tunnel. In the end he just stayed put.

During the match, De Bruyne, accompanied by Jérémy Doku, started the warm-up. He cheered on the sidelines when Gvardiol scored the 2-3. However, this turned out not to be the winning goal – Valverde leveled the score.

After the match there was a nice moment when De Bruyne exchanged his shirt with Luka Modric, celebrities among themselves. Modric also recognizes quality when he sees it.

He also had a chat with some teammates and Toni Kroos, Real’s other experienced player in midfield.
