KBANZ Hosts 19th Korean Badminton Tournament in New Zealand with Exciting Matches and High Scores

KBANZ (Korean Badminton Association in New Zealand) held the 19th Korean Badminton Tournament at 3pm on Saturday, April 13th at Waitakere Badminton Association Hall. This tournament was a grand event with about 120 players participating.

At 6 p.m., a simple opening ceremony was held, starting with a thank you speech from KBANZ Vice President Kim Seung-hyeon, followed by a photo shoot and the competition continued. Vice President Kim Seung-hyeon said, “I am grateful that many people in the badminton club participated in this competition. This year, we have already held the 19th competition. I am grateful to everyone in the association and everyone who supported us.”

From the preliminaries to the finals, there were close matches with a difference of one or two points, and it was exciting. In particular, the women’s doubles match was full of tension, with repeated comebacks.

The match for 3rd and 4th place in Men’s Group B went from a tie of 20 to 20 to 29 points. The game with the highest score since the tournament was held attracted the attention of many spectators. Lee Chang-yeop, a Korean citizen who won men’s doubles Group A, received the honor of winning Group A for the second time in a row following his victory in the last tournament.

After every game, there was an awards ceremony and prize recommendations, which were the highlight of the competition. In addition to sports socks, which were participation prizes, many prizes were prepared so that many participants could receive badminton goods and household goods.

The KBANZ Korean Badminton Association said, “We would like to express our gratitude to the various Korean businesses that have donated to enable us to successfully host the tournament every year,” and added, “We look forward to the interest and attendance of more New Zealand Korean badminton enthusiasts in the second tournament planned for 2024.” “I do,” he said.
