KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Kansas City Chiefs agreed to a new one-year contract with running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire on Monday.
The return of Edwards-Helaire in 2024 offers good depth to the Chiefs at this position, behind starter Isaiah Pachecho.
This new agreement comes the same day the team offered a practice tryout to free agent JK Dobbins.
The last pick in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Edwards-Helaire did not live up to the expectations placed on him.
After injury-plagued seasons, he was able to play the full schedule in 2023, albeit in a reserve role, after Pachecho seized the No. 1 job the year before.
The LSU product finished last campaign with 223 rushing yards. In his rookie year, he led Kansas City in this regard, with 803 yards.
