Juwan Howard Returns to NBA as Assistant Coach for Brooklyn Nets

NBA – After coaching Michigan for five years, the former double NBA champion will return to the Big League in Brooklyn where he will join Jordi Fernandez’s staff.

Here it is again Juwan Howard ! While Jordi Fernandez continues to compose its staff for next season, the new Nets coach called on Juwan Howard to strengthen its team of assistants. It would be a return to the NBA for the man who was an assistantErik Spoelstra in Miami for six years after winning two NBA championship titles as a player before hanging it up (2012 and 2013 with the Heat).

Since 2019, the former interior player has returned to his “alma mater” in the NCAA, at Michigan, where he formed the legendary “Fab Five” in the early 90s before entering the NBA.

For his first experience as “head c

oach”, there were highs, notably with his promising beginnings, his title of coach of the year in 2021, but also big lows, with less successful seasons, an argument with a Wisconsin assistant which had earned him a suspension until the end of the 2021/22 season, and finally heart surgery at the start of the 2023/24 season to result in one of the worst seasons in Michigan history.

Fired last March, Juwan Howard will therefore bounce back as assistant to Jordi Fernandez at the Nets, where he will notably team up with Steve Hetzel.
