Judo Meeting of Little Kimonos Resumes with Educational Focus

At the initiative of Kader Boukli, the meeting of little kimonos, paused since covid, took place last weekend. Organized jointly by the clubs of Jonquières-Saint-Vincent and Beaucaire for the logistical and sporting aspects, 160 children from 13 surrounding municipalities as far as Roquemaure participated in this event. The objective was to allow children to meet on the tatami mats for the passion and practice of judo more than for the competition. As soon as they arrived, the children were integrated into different teams of six or seven participants divided by weight categories, each supervised by a teacher and an assistant. After the warm-up, the children found themselves in a combat situation where their performances in terms of attitudes and technicality in mastering the different sports holds were noted, for educational purposes. Thus, the evaluation of each child will allow the club to return to the techniques that need to be reinforced. Finally, a passage on the podium without steps, where everyone was equal, allowed everyone to receive a medal and a badge to sew on the kimono. “The meeting was designed so that there is neither winner nor loser, there is always to learn, there is always to progress, this is the philosophy of judo,” explained Stéphane Mazoyer, president of judo. -club of Jonquières which hosted the meeting.
