The Spanish rider José Antonio Rueda (KTM) will miss the Moto3 race this Sunday at the Grand Prix of the Americas, the third round of the motorcycle World Championship, after undergoing surgery this morning for appendicitis, just a few hours after having placed second in the fight for pole in the small category.
“The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 rider has been diagnosed with appendicitis and underwent surgery last night with satisfactory results. Speedy recovery, Rueda!” reported his team, Red Bull KTM Ajo.
The 18-year-old from Seville began to feel unwell on Saturday after the qualifying sessions, and was transferred to a hospital, where he was finally diagnosed with appendicitis. There he was operated on “satisfactorily.”
Just a few hours before, Rueda had been just 17 thousandths behind the Colombian David Alonso (CFMoto) in Q2 held at COTA. Currently, he is fifth in the drivers’ standings with 20 points, 25 behind the leader Dani Holgado (GasGas), who will start after Alonso this Sunday.
