Venezuelan José Altuve was instrumental in the Astros’ victory this Sunday over the Rangers, in the Texan MLB duel, after contributing two home runs in the first and third innings that put the Houston team ahead.
ASTROS 8-5 RANGERS
Houston wins the series, overcoming Friday’s defeat, and begins to see the light with its sixth win of the season but still in last place in the American League West Division.
Altuve already has five homers this year. The one from Maracay won the duel with pitcher Nathan Eovaldi.
In the fourth and ninth, the Rangers added home runs by Evan Carter and Marcus Semien. In this last action, the visitors managed three runs to get closer but in the end it was insufficient.
GUARDIANS 8-7 YANKEES
Cleveland saved honor and avoided the Yankees’ sweep in Ohio, with a close victory that had Venezuelan Andrés Giménez as the hero of the game, after achieving the final hit in the tenth inning.
Equality was present from the first moment, with no more than two races between them at Progressive Field.
A double home run by the New Yorkers made people think about the sweep. The first was signed by Aaron Judge in the third and the second was the work of Mexican-born player José Trevino. For the locals, Dominican José Ramírez scored the first run in the third inning with a solo home run.
DODGERS 3-6 PADRES
The Padres won the series against the Dodgers, adding to today’s victory on Friday night. The Angelenos’ three runs all came in the fourth inning, with a single by Will Smith, who would also add another run driven in by a home run by Max Muncy.
With the score 3-3, the game escaped the Dodgers in the seventh, with a hit by Jurickson Profar that slipped out of James Outman’s hands and allowed him to run at will to add three runs that distanced to the parents.
From 3-6 onwards, no one scored again, with a special role for Venezuelan Robert Suárez from the mound in the last pitches of the ninth inning, who dominated and stopped the possible local reaction.
MARLINS 7-9 BRAVOS
A home run by Dominican Marcell Ozuna in the last inning added three runs for the Atlanta Braves and represented the victory over the Marlins in Miami. Venezuelan Ronald Acuña and Matt Olson accompanied him running the diamond and reaching the final 7-9.
The Marlins were unable to score in their last at-bat and lost the series to Atlanta, deepening their crisis in the current season.
TILES 5-0 ROCKIES
The Rockies went blank in their last match in Toronto, thanks to a great performance by Puerto Rican José Berríos, who pitched for the Blue Jays for seven innings in which he only allowed two hits and thus continued his excellent season.
The Blue Jays completed a magnificent reaction in the duels on Saturday and Sunday, to turn the series around and overcome Friday’s resounding 4-12 loss against Denver’s ninth team.
