Jordi Grimau ends three decades as a basketball player in Ibiza

Jordi Grimau announces this Wednesday in Ibiza his retirement from the slopes in an emotional press conference held in the Sa Pedrera pavilion, a stage in which he will still try to advance to LEB Oro with Class Sant Antoni. The brilliant Catalan guard, 40 years old, will put an end to three decades as a basketball player on the island, since he began his training at FC Barcelona between 1994 and 95. Diario de Ibiza already made progress in January, after a publication by Grimau himself on his social networks, that he would definitely hang up his boots at the end of the current campaign. «2024 gives me the gift of living these last five very special months. The last season only has half of it left. Time flies quickly when you dream hard! », he indicated at the beginning of the year.

Jordi Grimau arrived on the island in 2020 to relaunch the CB Sant Antoni project on and off the slopes. He has served as captain and alma mater of the team and as sports director, promoting an ambitious project that has been based in LEB Plata, but that has its sights set on professional basketball.

Throughout his long career, Grimau defended the colors of Barcelona, Monzón, Lleida, Gijón, Gandía, Tarragona, Baskonia, Cantabria Lobos, Manresa, Murcia, Valladolid, Gipuzkoa, Estudiantes and Palencia. Now, close to turning 41, he has decided to hang up his shoes in Ibiza.
