【Jeongseon】The Mindungsan Complex Cultural Center, which is being built to improve the health and leisure of residents, is expected to be fully operational in the second half of this year as it enters the final stages of construction.
The county is investing a total of 8 billion won, including 2.1 billion won in national funds, in the area of the Mindungsan Silver Grass Flower Festival in Mureung-ri, Nam-myeon, to build the Mindungsan Culture and Sports Center with a total floor area of 2,144 m2, one underground floor and three above-ground floors.
The living culture center on the first floor includes a library, exhibition room, and cultural lecture room, and the second and third floors are equipped with a multi-purpose gymnasium for ball games such as badminton and basketball, a table tennis court, a physical training center, a VR sports experience space, and a physical education play room. A national sports center will be built.
In particular, the National Sports Center on the 2nd and 3rd floors will be used as a base for revitalizing sports in the lives of residents, as opinions were collected through a survey of local residents and reflected in the architectural design and creation of internal facilities.
In addition, the county plans to have an outdoor performance hall and a rest plaza to use as a space for various cultural performances and exhibitions during the Silver Grass Festival.
The county plans to complete all administrative procedures, including building energy efficiency rating certification and barrier-free living environment certification (BF), by May and entrust operation to the Jeongseon-gun Facility Management Corporation.
Kim Jae-seong, head of the County Culture and Sports Department, said, “As the Mindungsan Culture and Sports Center will function as a cultural and sports space in the abandoned mine area south of Jeongseon, we will make every effort to prepare for the opening and operate the facility.”
