Jeongseon-gun, Gangwon-do, to Open Mindungsan Complex Cultural Center in the Second Half of the Year

Jeongseon-gun, Gangwon-do, announced on the 18th that it will begin operating the Mindungsan Complex Cultural Center in earnest from the second half of the year.

The Mindungsan Complex Cultural Center, which was built in the area of ​​the Mindungsan Silver Grass Flower Festival in Mureung-ri, Nam-myeon, with a total investment of 8 billion won, including 2.1 billion won in government funds, has a total area of ​​2,144 m2, one underground floor, and three above-ground floors.

Construction began in April 2022 and was completed in December 2023.

Currently, administrative procedures for operation, such as building energy efficiency rating certification, are in progress.

The first floor will be used as a cultural space for local residents, including a library, exhibition room, and cultural lecture room, and the second and third floors will be used as a national sports center for badminton, basketball, table tennis, and physical training.

The outdoor performance hall and rest plaza will be used as a space for various cultural performances and exhibitions during the Mindungsan Silver Grass Flower Festival.

Kim Jae-seong, head of the Culture and Sports Department, said, “As the Mindungsan Culture and Sports Center functions as a cultural and sports space in the abandoned mine area in the southern part of Jeongseon, we will do our best to prepare for the opening and operate the facility.”
