Jannik Sinner Focuses on Personal Goals Amidst Top Player Withdrawal: Roland-Garros and Olympics in Sight

Imperial against Sebastian Korda (6−1, 6–2) for the first match on clay of the season, on the occasion of his entry into contention in the second round of the Masters 1000 in Monte‐Carlo, Jannik Sinner commented on the withdrawal of his rival, Carlos Alcaraz, positioned just behind him in the standings.

“I obviously follow what’s going on, but I don’t look at other people that much. I know that I am a good player myself. Being number 2, 3 or 4 in the world doesn’t change anything for me, it doesn’t bother me. It’s a great satisfaction to be number 2, but that’s not the goal. The goal is to play well and achieve my goals, namely Roland‐Garros and the Olympic Games.”declared the 22-year-old player at a press conference.
