Jana Ziegler fights confidently to victory in Dubrovnik. She wins all fights with Ippon. Her opening fight takes her just 53 seconds and she wins with Waza-ari and Ippon. Only in the second fight she takes a little longer and has to go into overtime for 44 seconds. There she wins with Ippon. The semi-final ends after just over a minute with a Hansoku make for her opponent and she also makes short work of it in the final. After 48 seconds she wins the gold medal with Waza-ari and Ippon.
Tim Schmidt wins bronze. He wins his opening fight, but then loses to the eventual pool winner Lars Vissers from the Netherlands. This opens the way for him to the consolation round. Tim Schmidt rolls up the field from behind, wins two more times and is in the fight for bronze against Kilian Kappelmeier, third in the U23 European Championships. Five seconds before the end of the fight, he throws his national teammate with a hand throw and wins the bronze medal.
Lennart Slamberger from Leipzig trains at the federal base in Potsdam and also wins bronze.
